I have a 17" Powerbook 1GHz and am thinking of using an external display and keyboard, keeping the lid closed. If I keep folding@home running, will the machine overheat? I know Apple enabled lid-closed operation, but presumably did not expect 100% processor operation. Anyone any experience?

Yes, as long as you keep the bottom raised up and free, then it's OK, expect the fan to run pretty much all the time, if you want to be extra safe, get a small exterior fan to move air accross the bottom plate.

I don't do it often but it seems to work fine.

Thanks - I'll try it now. Was a little scared of frying a £2500 machine.
