I have a 17" Santa Rosa 2.4 with the hi-res matte screen option. I recently got a crack in the LCD, so it's about time for a panel replacement.
Hold it right there...
I noticed that there is one revision of MBP before they switched to unibody, the Penryn chip. The Penyrn 17" MacbookPro shipped with a CCFL backlit screen but offered a 17" LED-backlit hi-res option for $100 extra.
Here's my question:
Could I use the internals of a Penryn Macbook Pro (screen + inverter/power supply) and shove those bits into my Santa Rosa? Thus, effectively converting my CCFL panel to an LED one.
