I'm currently looking for a new monitor for my computer, to retire my 17" Samsung 753DF. Right now I'm looking at Samsung 172W, for $700 CAD. It is an old monitor and Samsung's site lists it as discontinued. However, there does not seem to be a replacement model for it. I'm wondering if, for that price, this monitor is good to buy or is there a similar display out there that offers at least the resolution supported on this monitor for similar prices?

Please help.

I have the Samsung Syncmaster 173MW.. and it's freaking sweet.

HD ColorStream input, RCA, S-Video, DVI, Analog and Coaxial input... as well as decent built in speakers, remote, and PIP.

How much did that cost? And how does it perform when used as computer monitor?

Well in Canada it's $1099 at BestBuy.

That's what, 700US maybe?

I use it on my computer through DVI right now, and it's not bad. I've yet to game on it, to check out the refresh rates, but I've watched movies on it and highspeed chases and what not come out perfectly. No ghosting.
