automated start program

For the last few days I have been looking for a program that starts another program (or script) at a specified time. e.g. weekly backups (rsync).
But so far, no luck. I did found lingon, but for some reason it doesn't work.

I don't feel like messing with launchd directly. I don't want to break something.

Any suggestions?

Why not use iCal. Create a new event and under the 'Alarm' settings choose 'Run Script'

Ah, Apple simplicity. Works like a charm. Should have guessed something like that would have been possible, but since I never use ical...

Or if you're using Panther or pre-Panther..

is you are using rsync script from terminal cron what you should use. I've included some more options below, but using cron or cronnix (gui) ver is the way to go with a unix script.
