On the dock, next to the trash

I used to have a Spring type icon with a @ on top of it. It's now disappeared.
Can anyone tell me what it is, Why it might disappear and is it a problem that it has?

It was just a URL, which if clicked would link you to the Apple website. Chances are you accidently dragged it off the Dock – we all do it from time to time. 😉

For future reference, if you want to pop a URL in your Dock just drag the address out from Safari's Address Bar into the right hand side of the dock. Easy as that and twice as simple!
