Startup Screen Flashes Blue

Hey all,

quick question. Had a few updates recently and now notice when i power on, when on the apple logo startup screen (white screen typically) it's white, then quickly flashes blue, back white, and then continues to load fine...

anyone ran into this/something to be concerned about ?

10.9.3, and yeah its just tinted blue. its literally the same logo screen, just blue for a second. then continues to boot fine with no issues.

Well, it's normal 😛. On some computers, right before logging in, the color profile will change for a second and then it will switch to the correct one. I don't know why it happens, but it does.

The color profile affects boot screen sometimes? Lol either I've never switched my profile in 10 years or haven't noticed

As long as it's nothing of concern.

should i be concerned? It def doesn't appear to be profile color related, as it wasn't a change that caused it, nor does a change fix it.

I had the same on the second and subsequent reboots after installing 10.9.3 on a mid 2012 rMBP.
I mooched around here and saw that some people had made it disappear by resetting PRAM. I did the same and haven't seen the blue Apple since.

It works for a while, but the issue seems to come back after a couple of reboots/shutdowns.

But it's still nothing to worry about, and probably will be fixed in a future update.

That was probably the GPU going bad.

The OP's issue however is a known glitch that appeared to some MBP and iMac users after updating to OS X 10.9.2.
