Hi folks my Macbook air would only charge sometimes and after some research it turns out it only charges my Macbook when it's hot. My girlfriend and I both have the same model so I regularly use both chargers (both are original chargers we got with our MacBooks). Both work fine on my gf's macbook but only when hot on mine.

Both magsafe chargers will power up my mac so I can use it but won't charge. I need to use it on my gf's to heat it up before plugging it in to mine before it will charge. Only then will the orange light come on. Usually their is no light

Edit. It seems this process only works sometimes. I've had it charging for 10 mins just now but it has stayed at 4%which it started at. Light is orange but power brick has cooled down.

Anyone had this problem

Thanks for reading

Like the charging port?

Do you know how long it will take my local apple shop to fix it? Can it be done same day?

Thanks
From my experiences with hardware repairs at the Apple Store, most are sent out to ACP's/ACMT's (Apple Certified Professionals or Apple Certified Macintosh Technicians) for repair. It may be different at certain Stores, by I've always had mine sent out for hardware repairs. Takes from a couple of days to a week.

Yep.

If they have it in stock and aren't too busy they may be able to do it the same day.

Book a morning appointment and ask if they'd mind doing it whilst you do some shopping or something.
