I am visually impaired and I depend so much on this function.
On both iPhone 5 and the iPad 2 the zoom is broken now.
I have enabled full screen zoom and when the keyboard is active the phone is still zooming using window zoom except for the keyboard area. But if you change the orientation of the phone while zoomed in then the zoom becomes full screen. And if you go to another app after, the previous zoom window is retained. All of this having already chosen full screen zoom on settings instead of window zoom under "zoom region".
I want to totally deactivate the window zoom feature. I do not need the keyboard to be kept separated in another area than the zoom. I just want the same behavior that I was getting on iOS 7. It is very annoying as it is.
Impeding the keyboard area from been zoomed in is a good idea but the actual implementation is very buggy. Zoom is almost unusable, specially with the iPhone in landscape orientation.
I have left feedback to Apple about this. I really hope an update fixes this mess. It is the first time they mess with a so important accessibility function in iOS. I chosed iOS vs Android mostly for the excellent zoom capabilities of these devices, something really lacking on the Android world.
