comes out $2099.

i will be giving up 256mb of vram and and a less powerful cpu, but, i will get the durability and speed of ssd. is 128gb enough space?

If you don't need the 512mb graphics card (only comes with the i7) I would get the i5 and SSD. And actually, I would just drop the SSD in the optical drive and use the stock HDD for storage.

256mb vram is fine today. but concern if tomorrow's programs (specifically the upcoming final cut pro) will require more. this is the main reason why i am really considering paying more for the i7, for the slight vram bump.

believe it or not, i will be using the dvd for playing back movies. so, the dvd for now will come in handy. not to mention the burning ability.
