So I saw a $18 upgrade fee on my receipt. Did anybody else see this on their receipts? I thought every 2 years we were eligible for a free upgrade. Maybe this will be waived on the actual bill.
They've always charged $18 to upgrade.
It may have been free with dumbphones.
Yes, I went into my local AT&T store and they hit me with the $18.00 update fee. I got my order notification a couple of hours ago. Says my phone will ship in the next 14 to 21 days...I thought they were going to be here on Oct the 14th... I guess as long as I get it .... but wish I could get it on the 14th.
I think they should do away with pre-orders in the future. It always gets people all worried and pissed off. If they are doing it on a first come first serve basis anyways then why have pre-orders? Why not open the doors to these stores the day of release and let people get their phones until they run out.
Because some of us have jobs/school/lives that sleeping overnight outside an Apple store would interrupt.

So Apple should forgo the hundreds of thousands, if not millions of phones that are sold through pre-ordering? There are going to be ridiculous lines on launch day and most stores will probably run out of stock, and that's with the preordering option. Your suggestion is just bad business.
That's irrelevant because I have read about people staying up until 4am trying to get their pre-order in.
