18 wheel spins to boot after ram upgrade?

I just installed 8GB kit in my alu unibody macbook 5,1 and it takes forever to boot. Before it would only take 4 wheel spins to boot.

So far i've ran onyx, applejack, reset pram, smc and fsck -f in single user mode.

Is there anyway to fix this without going back to 4GB?

Strange. Seems like you have already done everything I would have suggested. Might be the ram.

Go back to stock ram and see what happens. If all is fine, put the 8 back in, if problem returns, exchange it for another kit.
