I bought a 1 gb ram from 18004memory and was wondering if it has any reputation at all. Someone told me recently that I should never buy ram from anywhere but Crucial.com. I don't want to risk installing ****** ram into my computer and having problems. Think I'll be alright?

Thanks.

Crucial, OWC, and CanadaRAM (if you're up there) are legit. There are more, obviously, but those three are safe.

As is Newegg, et. al.

Yeah but what about 18004memory.com? Im just wondering wether or not I should use it.

There are some good companies out there, Crucial is a solid one... but many 3rd party RAM will cause hang ups and kernel panics, just make sure they give you some sort of "will work for your Mac" guarantee. I have seen some bad RAM from the company you got yours from, but you could be ok. I'd stay away from kingston for sure.

From the sound of it the OP has the ram already. I would put it in and see what happens. It won't hurt anything. The worst that will happen is it may crash and you'll have to restart - might lose data from any open programs on a crash. If you have repeated crashes take it out and send it back. Pretty simple. If you're worried about damaging your other hardware - it shouldn't be a problem - cheap memory just isn't as stable.

Kingston RAM is bad now? Are we talking just for Macs or in general?

Cause I've had no better RAM for my PC than Kingston.

I buy all my ram from 18004memory and never had an issue with the ram ever. Excellent experience. :)
