Does NOT seem to be an software issue but a HARDWARE issue.

Anyone else?

Its is a software issue, my iPhone 5s was doing it on the beta for IOS 8, when I got around to removing the beta and going to 8.02, it went back to normal. Interestingly though it was only happening if I tried to take a photo from the message app.

I've updated to 8.02. So have many others in that thread i believe. No fix yet.

I had this problem too! The only fix was to lock the orientation. I ended up returning the 6 plus for that reason and also so that I could switch to AT&T from Sprint.

In my case the ENTIRE SCREEN would flip when I unlocked the screen.

I've had my iPhone 6 since launch weekend... cant return now. :(

Flip "GATE"? Really? Wow....so much for being original.

And just because you're having a problem does not mean everyone is.

I, for one, dont have this problem. Lucky? I don't know, maybe.

But if anything, as with the earlier thread already created about this, it would definitely a software problem.

The -gate suffix is SO CLEVER! Where did you come up with that? You should continue using it! It totally seems like a REAL ISSUE and so scandalous when you state it like that! Man, so clever.

Never said everyone had this issue. and "-GATE" is what is being used for every issue... BENDGATE?

Come on. Thanks for bashing someone for having an issue that has not been resolved and seems to be present for some people.

I'm waiting for one year when the phone is like, extremely sensitive to short circuiting from Water somehow.

So we can straight up call it Watergate.

That would be awesome to come back full circle.

I don't think that member was trying to bash you per say but it is getting very old and tiring when someone has an issue with their phone to start a "GATE" thread. It's more like making fun of a situation that has been beaten to death. The comedy has worn off and people are taking offense to it.

Now you were mentioning about returning your phone? Don't. It's a software issue and it's not the phone. Apple still has bugs to iron out with iOS 8. Be patient. Don't jump the gun and return the phone. It's not a hardware problem. After tomorrow's keynote they'll probably have an update as to when iOS 8.1 will be released.

I am also having this problem intermittently in the camera app where things are flipped.

In the apple support thread, someone mentioned using the compass app to calibrate.

I did this and while it seems ok right now, I noticed that if I kill the compass app and re-open, it wants me to calibrate again. It does this every time.

Is re-calibration normal? Does that point to a hardware not software issue?

I can call it whatever I want.

It's a GATE.

The bending issue only happened to a couple of phones.

This is a more widespread issue.

TOO BAD IF YOU DO NOT LIKE MY NAMING.

Hmm

And here I thought I was using the camera incorrectly. When I shoot in landscape using the + button as the shutter release most of my photos come out upside down. Doh

EXACTLY. Been having that issue since the first day I got my phone!!!

I shoot all my photos in landscape mode with the home button to the right. It seems random going through the Photo/Camera Roll on which it decides will stay sideways and which are properly rotated.

Irritating when you're flipping through trying to show someone a few photos and invariably three or four are sideways for no apparent reason.

I'm still having this same issue from time to time in camera and face time iOS 8.1 iPhone 6. I'd like to know if it's hardware or software related. Pictures can be rotated in edit mode, but FaceTime being sideways or upside down makes the app u useable.
