Spent the entire day doing this and needed a place to rewrite my notes. I used a mid-2014 Apple Macbook Pro all stock.
Things I recommend you make before hand
- Downloaded a Windows 8.1 ISO and used bootcamp assistance to make a USB installer. I couldn't get Windows 7 to work out (efi headache)
- Created a OS X Yosemite USB stick
--- Used Apple App Store and this guide (http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201372).
- Used unetbootin and created a gparted USB stick
- Used unetbootin and created a clonezilla USB stick
*** If you are going to use any kind of file encryption wait until after clonezilla/the end ***
You're going to have to disable TPM check for Bitlocker on MBP.(http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/21271-bitlocker-turn-off-os-drive-windows-8-a.html)
Onto the job
1. Booted into the recovery mode and deleted all the volumes
2. Booted into the Yosemite USB stick and installed Yosemite onto the entire drive
3. Inside Yosemite I plugged in the Windows 8 USB stick and used boot loader assistance and split the OS X partition. Took into account the Window partition size, Share partition size & size of the boot loader.
4. Used GPARTED and split the Windows drive into two separate spaces.
-- DON'T TOUCH THE WINDOWS BOOT LOADER PARTITION (it should be right below the OS X recovery partition)
5. Booted into Yosemite and fixed a GPT error or Windows 8 wouldn't install
- Found my solution here (http://macriot.com/mcrt/?p=2362)
6. Booted into recovery mode and did a disk verify
7. Booted into the Windows 8 USB stick (clicked the EFI one) and installed Windows 8 to the Windows partition
8. All two OS booted!
9. Using Windows, formatted the share partition as exFAT via command prompt as administrator (format driveletter: /FS:exFAT)
- Used disk management and changed the drive letter.
- I used exFAT due to native support between OS X and Windows
10. Booted into Yosemite and bam there's the SHARE partition
12. Clonezilla the computer
