Hey Guys,

Received my rMBP and would like to share my video approach to it

Tests Made:
- Blackmagic Diskspeed Test
- Geek Bench 3
- Cinebench R15
- Unigine Valley (Windows 8 Bootcamp)
- Furmark Stress Test (Windows 8 Bootcamp)

Also tested Boot Speed of this Macbook Pro early 2015 in OSX and also in Windows 8 Bootcamp installation

Hey can you check your screen model number by going into
Settings=> Display=>Color=>Color LCD=> Open Profile and scroll down to #17 Apple display make and model information

and then post it, I'm curious to know if it's still using the older screens or if there are new ones :)

Serial Number : 00000000

Great video Roberto.

The screen has a different model number to the 2014 model. I wonder if these screens are any better than the previous generation.

What is the white point like? i.e. warm, yellow or snow white?

Is the screen uniform?

which screen do you have?
i had an original A018 and then went through 3 A020 replacements and all turned out to be yellow. I'm still stuck with a yellow one, I hope Apple has improved on their screens this time

I had one A018 and two A020 models. The A020 models were quite dull and kind of cigerette stained compared to the A018.

Also I had the 15" A022 next to the 13" A020 and the A022 was much whiter and brighter than the A020 panel.

I have 5 Apple resellers in my area and every A018 panel on the shop floor is perfect. I hope we dont have any of this nonsense with the new model.

Exactly the same problem!
And it's so annoying:mad::mad::mad:
I'm fed up of dealing with Apple.
They only provide a020 as screen replacements.
So what finally happened to you?
Are you stuck with the A020 or did you manage to get a replacement?

I was torn between the 13" and 15" and now I have a 15" although I am thinking of returning it for the new 13" as I simply prefer the form factor. However my current 15" is perfect and maybe I ust need to adjust to the size. I gave up on the 2014 13" model because of the A020 panels and also because it did not support 4K @ 60hz.

However the new 2015 seems to tick all the boxes. Maybe Roberto can give us his opinion on the white point of his new 13".

We dont know at this stage unless someone does a teardown.

On the 15" dGPU version one was able to identify the manufacturer via terminal command and it turned out that A019 was LG and A022 was Samsung.

However the terminal command did not work on the non dGPU 15" or 13" so the same logic was assumed. A018 for LG and A020 for Samsung for the 2013/2014 13".

The same will most likely apply for the 2015 13". People will need to post their MODEL numbers to see if there are different screens in production.

So as of now we have A02A for a 2015 13".

This was my experience as well with the first part. Do you think :apple: stores/resellers really cherry pick the floor model displays? If so, very sad and somewhat misleading.
 
I just bought a 13inch Macbook Pro 2015 from Best Buy and looking at my display preferences, I see the following:

Manufacturer: 00000610
Model: 0000A02A

I am hearing people talk about the A02 model, I apparently have the A02A. Does this make a difference? Are these good screens?

There are two screens this time around. A02A and A029.

A02A = samsung
A029 = LG

many A029s are having image retention problems. The A02As don't seem to and are a bit "whiter" and a faster response time.

The only advantage I've seen to an A029 without retention is that it has a slightly better viewing angle brightness. Some people actually find the A029's color nicer (warmer), i did not.

I believe samsung is "Super PLS", and LG is "IPS", which are slightly different takes on the same general in-plane-switching technology.

Where did you find this information?

According to this, my new MBP has a LG screen. I do like the colors. At first, it seems a bit warm. But the white color actually is very near the actual white point of 6500 K. Samsung often is a bit cooler.
