I needed another Windows machine since about 6 months ago, this iMac wasn't doing a lot - so since then I've been giving this machine a bit more of a workout than it's ever had to date (it got turned on maybe once every 1-2 months before that and used for about 4 hours each time).
It's the 27-inch with the i5-9600K and the 580X. Both GPU and CPU are being hit at about 50-80% usage constantly over the period of about 5 hours each time about four days a week over this period - it's hardly a super stressful workload and anything at this price point should be able to cope with in Windowsland, but the load is eventually enough to get the squirrel wheel going at quite a noise level - not a big deal since it's in a room I'm not occupying.
What I've been having recently is random stuttering in Windows to the degree that it's basically unusable. The CPU seems to be varying between 0.9 and 1.3Ghz during this period. Even if I leave it for say half an hour and come back, it's still in this stuttering throttled mode.
I can get it to go away by logging out - and it'll be happy again until it isn't. I get the feeling it might be happening more often since it started happening, but I'm not 100% sure of that. So not quite sure what's going on. Any ideas?
