19" widescreen resolutions issues

I am having a issue with my mac i have set up my Asus 19" wide screen and the resolution is set to 1280 x 800 but it seems to be wrong and all of them do not look right. When i had it on my old pc it looks good and the resolution was on some thing like 1280 x 7... some thing.

How would i go about fixing this as windows look to big when i put them onto the screen.

System preferences > displays > and it should be in there. Pick a higher resolution.

I tryed them all and non of them look right. like the windows are a lot bigger and not as nice looking as my macbook screen.

What size is your macbook? and what is your resolution set to on your notebooks screen?
also do you know the max resolution on the external monitor?

My friend fixed it for me. it had to be on 1440 x 900
