I switch between the MBP's 1440x900 display and a 23-inch 1920x1080 external monitor often. When doing so, the window settings, font sizes, icon size and spacing are all completely different between the two.

Is it possible to create two profiles within the same account, so I can switch from 1440x900 to 1920x1080 and back again without having to completely change all my window sizes and positions each time?

If such capability is built in I am unaware of it, but perhaps there is a utility out there? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I don't think so...

...but it would be useful. You could, of course, create a second user but that's a sledgehammer to crack a nut IMHO.

If your MBP is a retina model, you could just learn to work with 1920x1200 - it's a good balance between desktop size and legibility. If you don't have a retina model, not sure what to suggest - perhaps SwitchResX has an option... it does have a 'Display Set' feature that might do what you want. You could email Stephane, the author, and ask - and he might be able to advise on a way to accomplish this...
