Thank god, the Government has decided to force Telecom to unbundle the local loop! This means we will have faster, cheaper broadband! (at least I hope so)

For those who don't know how stuped it is, this is what I have:

3.5Mbit Download Rate (fastest in NZ)
128Kbit Upload rate
10GB per month data
$60 per month
 
Saw this a few minutes ago, it's about time! I'll be so glad to ditch this connection and give Telecom the finger :D
 
I wish they'd improve broadband prices here too. Compared to everywhere else, we pay too much and the speeds aren't even that great. I'm on 512 at the moment, with 15GB and it's $70. Thank god I'm not paying for it!

PS Drink lots of honey and lemon tea (and if you're brave, a bit of garlic) Glenn, that's always my flu fighter ;)

Yikes! That's worse than what we're complaining about here! :eek:

3.5 Mb/s down, 512 kb/s up, 30 GB, $80 (which is a little less than AU$70).
 
That can't be for the whole of Australia, according to what I have read, aussies can get 24Mbit for same cost as our 3.5. Heck we shouldn't even have data caps.

Edit (addition): Ok, so the next step is to take the CEO and top executives of Telecom, put them on trial for crimes against humanity and see what happens...
 
For ADSL, the fastest you can get is 1.5MB and that's about $80 with 20GB. Faster is available via cable - up to 30MB, with 20GB costs $130 per month. Plus 11c for every MB over :rolleyes:
 
By the thread title, I thought the iTMS had finally come to NZ. ;)

I'm pleased — any good news from home is worth celebrating.
 
I only wish we could get broadband with no capping, 10GB is just not enough for me anymore in a month...

The speed is fine for me, and the price would be fine too if it was unlimited usage.

This will come as no comfort but do you have any idea how long it was before FM stereo radio came to NZ when I was younger? :(

Point is though, it eventually got there.

you're lucky! i'm on the same plan than you and i usually have a max download speed of 250-300 Kps

www.iinet.com.au ;) I would love it but I'm stuck on a Telstra contract untill next year. At the moment I pay $70 for a 512k connection with 10GB bandwidth including uploads :mad:

Telecom or TelstraClear? My TC connection performs at its advertised speed, but I've heard heaps of complaints from Telecom customers.

Telecom. I was so looking forward to the new speed enhancements but it did nothing for me.

She's Theresa Gattung, the boss of Telecom (current monopoly) and the richest person in the country. Yellow, blue and green are Telecom's corporate colours, as seen here:

And don't forget that this is the company that has for weeks if not months been bombarding TV and newspapers with ads promising "faster, cheaper broadband" ...and then has the arrogance to say that because there was no "and" between the words "faster" and "cheaper", that it was only promising faster OR cheaper, but not both.

Yes I know about that, my brother works in the advertising media business. Very funny, them having to change the ad.
 
Hold on, you can get 3.5 downspeed in enzed, you lucky little sheep shaggers, i would love that speed, i am actually starting to beleive telstra is far more evil than telecom, i really want broadband over power 200Mbps:D and i can finnally ditch telstra for good.
