D Doubtful macrumors newbie May 7, 2006 #2 This should be what you need: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/imacearly2006firmwareupdate101.html I got this last night to update the firmware on my iMac 20" Intel and it worked just fine. I believe it is for the 17" model as well.

When you install the firmware you have to shut down your computer then restart it but hold down the power button until the "sleep" light blinks a couple times... it may even make a noise

J joelypolly macrumors 6502a May 8, 2006 #6 Try it a few times. Some people have had it fail a few times.
D Dopeyman macrumors 6502a May 8, 2006 #7 A couple of times it failed to update, so finally I decided to hold the power button all the way through the entire FW update, and that worked...
