1G owner upgraded to 3G, wants to return, contract?

I bought my iPhone 3G White a week ago. I had to disable the 3G in order for the phone to function. I could not get a good connection anywhere. I upgraded from the 1G model and am considering just returning my 3G phone and switching to a different phone until Apple can fix the issues with the 3G reception. Unfortunately I no longer have my old iPhone.

Here's my question. I know when I upgraded to 3G it renewed my contract with AT&T for another 2 years. If I return the 3G will I be held to my old contract (from the 1G iPhone) that the new one replaced? or Can I just return the 3G, cancel my account with AT&T and move on? Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks in advance!

no answer.....

....but you do have my sympathy. Truthfully, wild horses couldn't separate me from my 2.5g phone.

I still see v1 iPhones on sale on Craigslist at reasonable prices, so you could explore getting one there, and sell your 3g to cover the cost.

Good luck whatever you choosebto do.
