1GB + 4GB - Is it possible?

Now that the Mini supports 8GB of RAM, I'm planning on getting two sticks of 4GB, but now right away, as it's still too expensive.

Can I get one and replace the 1GB with the 4G and have a total of 5GB? Or will that mess up the machine?

I don't think the Mini uses dual channel memory, so you should be fine.

Even if it doesn't work; which I do believe it will, you could always just use the 4gb stick.
