It appears that whenever I go through an area in my building that does not have service (this has always been the case...the basement, elevators) the phone does not reestablish a connection with ATT. I need to restart the phone to get my signal back (full five bars).

I thought maybe this was just a display error and that trying to send a message or make a call would kick it back into play and all I get is a failure to send or connect.

Anyone else experiencing this?

before you posted this, I posted my same issue in another thread, except mine is worse than just not reconnecting.

I'm still having a consistant problem where whenever I start to use the radio, by pulling up voicemail, or trying to make a call... the phone stalls, even when it says it has full bars, after about 10-20 seconds it will drop down to 1 bar without edge, and then after another 10-20 seconds it shifts over to "no service"

the only way to fix it is to put it into airplane mode and then take it out. (or restarting)

so it takes roughly 5-8 minutes to make a single call (almost every time... rarely does it work the first time) and I can NEVER listen to voicemail.

I've had this problem since 2.0.1 .. I was hoping this update would fix it, but it hasn't. looks like I'll be buying a blackberry.

It's not a phone issue, my roommate and a friend have the same issue as I do.

so yeah, same problem.

uh oh. Wish I'd read this before updating. This could be bad. :( (I haven't gone in to any areas without coverage since the update, so I don't know if I have this problem on my first gen iphone).

As mentioned before, airplane mode on and off is the best way to reconnect if you have no service. Don't reset your phone...
