Can somebody tell me what the best way to use 1Password Pro on an iPhone?

I just got it and it is saying to Sync it with Dropbox, but do you trust
Dropbox with all your Online Banking Passwords, etc ?

Is there a way to locally store your passwords on your iPhone?

Cheers! JJ

Great purchase! I'd trust dropbox. You're talking about an encrypted/secure database, stored on the cloud behind another account (ideally with a unique email address...?). I use it, and it works great between OS X/iPad/iPhone.

AFAIK, if you don't want to use that you don't have too. That's mainly for keeping your data across the platforms. If you just want that information on your phone simply enter your information and don't bother with the syncing options.

1password files are encrypted. There is no risk leaving them on Dropbox.

Thanks guys for the replies.

I just remember reading about a
security breach on Dropbox a while back...

Thanks givemeabreak for the link about Dropbox security breach!

Are there any other opinions about storing sensitive
Banking passwords on DropBox ?

DropBox is an option for 1Password. Not necessary.

But it might be the only way to sync your passwords between iPad and/or Desktop.

Even should Dropbox get compromised, the 1Password database stored in your Dropbox is a highly encrypted package.

Hey Menel,

Then how do i Sync my passwords just on the WiFi network without Dropbox?

I sync over wifi with 1Password for Mac. Maybe I'm being paranoid but I'd rather do it this way than sync to Dropbox.

You can do that? I haven't seen the option in my 1Password preferences.

OP: I put my 1Password file in Dropbox as well. As others have said, the 1Password package is heavily encrypted. It helps me have access to my password across my Mac, Windows Phone, and iPad (which is currently gone as I wait for the iPad 3).

Just to be clear, 1Password is creating an encrypted file, which it then sends to Dropbox. Dropbox encrypts everything you send to them as well. This results in your 1Password file being double encrypted when it is stored on Dropbox. Thus, even if your Dropbox data were compromised, anyone accessing your 1Password file would still wind up with nothing but an encrypted file.

I have 1password pro for iPhone and 1password for mac, All I have to do is have both on the same wi-fi network and everything will sync... no need to use dropbox if you dont feel comfortable.

Yeah see even bigjnyc does it that way. You just have to be on the same wifi network and add your iPhone for the first time and then they'll sync whenever you have 1password open on both your Mac and iPhone.

What can someone like me do when using an iPhone 3GS with an iBookG4? I don't think my iBook G4 has wifi and I may be reluctant to use Dropbox (but not necessarily, I just want to keep my options open).

Is there another way to sync 1Password between my phone and my laptop?

I should note that I am running Mac OS X v. 10.5.8, so I had to download an older version of 1Password... I think it may be time to invest in a new laptop.
