So, I heard that the app store has 1password for free just today. Does that mean if we download it today, it won't work tomorrow, unless we pay?

If you download an app, it will always be yours regardless of future price variation, you basically own it. Even if you paid for it and then it became free the very next day, sadly that has happened to me with amazing regularity as of late
