I have a 30 GB video iPod being delivered Monday. I have a new to me Powermac 533 (Digital Audio). It has Firewire and a IOGear USB 2.0 card in it. I do not know if I am getting 2.0 speeds as my camera picture uploads do not seem very fast, therefore:

Because the new iPod only has USB 2.0, what do I need to sync it to my G4:

1) a working 2.0 card?
2) a dock? (What do docks do exactly)
3) a USB to Firewire conversion?

Help save me some money so I don't buy the wrong thing. I would ultimately like a dock if I could use it to charge the iPod AND sync with my mac, all using Firewire. Does it do this?

Thank you

Most camera cards aren't very fast for data read/writes. You have a USB 2.0 card so you'll be fine. You don't need a dock unless you want it.

Also, to answer your very last question, I don't think a dock will allow you to use Firewire to connect an iPod that does not support Firewire connections.
