If i were to buy an old 16gb iphone off ebay, and something happend to it would apple honor the warranty? i really dont want a 3g after seeing the problems people are having with it, so i wanna grab an old one while i still can but bit iffy regarding the warranty, anyone know?

The warranty follows the phone, from the date of first purchase, as long as it is activated.

I believe that would be fine. You can check by entering the Serial Number into the AppleCare website. After you do buy it, I would suggest investing in Apple Care, extending the hardware coverage to two years from the original date of purchase.

If you have a 16GB first gen, which debuted in March and EOL'd in June, you should have at least 6 months on the original warranty. You can buy Apple care within the first year to extend.
