nope, just software. if i were him i would just download the 1.3 restore utility for windows and see how that goes, if it still doesnt work in itunes then he can use xpod, musicmatch (which i wouldnt) or ephpod (which works nicely).Originally posted by G5orbust
Oh? It must be a windows app plug in then. I always thought that windows compatability as far as using the ipod as a music player was limited by the older firmware (firmware specific to model)

Whenever I use the Windows iPod restore program from apple, it reports an error. This occurs after attempting various combinations of reformatting from both the Mac and the XP box, and using the restore on the Mac. The PC doesn't want to perform the restore!
