iPod 1St Gen Ipod Shuffle Get Very Hot!

Has any body heard of this? The shuffles gets extremely hot and the battery life is very short. I take it this is the sign of a dead/bad battery.

It gets hot when playing. I have not checked if it gets hot when charging.

I have had one for well over a year now. My shuffle does NOT get hot whilst playing, not even warm. However, if I charge it can get slightly warm but not much.

Sounds weird. Time for a new shuffle perhaps?

I got one of the new shuffles and have given this one to my daughter. The crappy thing is I have never really used it and now it seems broken.
