I have a 1st gen (v. 1.6.0, 2009) magic trackpad that has recently developed issues connecting to my Mac Mini (circa late 2018, running Sonoma 14.0). It has never given me any problems before. It will eventually connect, but it takes approx 10 mins. Goes through cycle of: green light blinks twice on computer startup, popup message appears on screen "connected" but doesn't work, then continuously repeats this cycle.

I've tried replacing batteries, turning off bluetooth, forgetting device and then attempting to re-connect, but this keeps happening. Have tried a lot of the suggestions on Apple help page. No other device interference around that I can see. The trackpad works but I don't want to wait 10 minutes for it to connect.

Anyone else with this problem?

Exactly the same here. Hard to connect since Sonoma. It connects, eventually (but not after 10min like you). No problems before Sonoma. (Macbook M1)

Thanks OliT.

Update: The trackpad is now working finally, and much more reliably. It may have been a battery issue. I use rechargeables in it and tended to let them drain to between 10-20% charge before I changed them. I put in some fully charged ones and try to keep them at least above 30% now, then replace when they get below 30%. In the last couple of weeks, I haven't had the issue come up when working on a fuller charge.

It also may have been fixed w software upgrade. Now on Sonoma 14.1.1

Here I cannot connect the trackpad with Sonoma (iMac).
The trackpad is shown in Bluetooth but "connect" does nothing, just returning to display "connect".
The trackpad connects fine under Windows.
