My old 1st Gen MBP 15" had both of its hinges seize up. Well, they got VERY stiff. ...So that they broke the case metal, blah blah blah. I have disassembled the laptop. The display is now off. Any ideas on how to loosen the play of the hinge slightly? I've tried a bit of lube and let that sit. I still need to use pliers to move either hinge. No improvement.

I could do further disassembly if I can follow the lame blurry online PDF how-to manual that I found. So much work went into it and the pics are blurry! (http://www.powerbookmedic.com/Manuals/15-inch-macbook-pro-manual.pdf) It's the only source I found with info on the hinge / clutch for this laptop. The info is actually a bit sketchy but it has helped so far.

All I want to do is loosen the hinges and reassemble! Then screw/epoxy some patching metal over the broken areas -- not pretty but I just need it to stay together. It doesn't have to close anymore!

Anyway, I see tremendous amount of info about hinge complaining and many videos but nothing really about SEIZING of the hinges. THANKS!
