I'm hearing that these iPods were prone to break often. What's the real deal here, did they break often or is it just some fabricated lies from an anti-Apple guy?

I've had two...one was ordered on the day of release and is still going strong two years later. The second died after about nine months...refused to show up in iTunes, on the Desktop, or in Disk Utility. I got it replaced at my Genius Bar in about two minutes.

I had one for two years, and never had a problem. I only took it back because my two year Best Buy warranty was going to end...and I put that money towards a new nano.

1st gen Shuffles? Mine's still going strong. I love it! I'm sure a percentage of them did break, as with anything else, but I never personally heard any complaints about the Shuffle.
