Is there some reason why Apple discontinued the 1st Magic mouse that used rechargeable AA batteries? Personally i believe that MMouse was the best. No difficulty and total autonomy in charging. If u have 4 AA rechargeable batteries, your done, theres absolutely no hasle in charging.

The problem with devices that take AA batteries or similar is most people don’t use rechargeable batteries. It’s just more for the landfill

Although it's really annoying, because if you _do_ use rechargeable batteries AAs are way more convenient. I can swap them out in 30 seconds instead of waiting for them to charge.

I'm perpetually annoyed the industry is moving away from them. I use LG mice, but I had to buy a less expensive one instead of a nicer model I would have otherwise preferred, because the "premium" ones used stupid internal rechargeable.

I know with gaming focused mice the reason why they don’t use AA batteries is because they draw too much power. The batteries wouldn’t last long. I love the generic mice where a single AA battery lasts all year.

I have a G305, which is from their gaming line. It uses a single AA battery and lasts for months.

Maybe the more expensive gaming mice would use more power? But even if it uses twice as much power, they could just require two AA batteries instead of 1, or even cut the battery life slightly.

It's generally a great mouse, but I would have liked to get one with more buttons. Unfortunately, none of them take AA batteries.
