I'm in need of a new HDD and came down to to either WD Scorpio Blue 1tb, or Seagates new hybrid 1tb sshd. Does anybody here have experience with either drive?

I've used both, the WD is a solid drive, no complaints about it, no speed demon by any measure but if you're coming from an older/slower HD you might notice a small improvement in performance. The Seagate is kind of a mixed bag, it performed well during boot ups and while lunching applications however it's still just a 5400RPM so it's your call if it's worth the higher price.

There's also an HGST (Hitachi) 7200rpm 1TB disk that'll fit and I've been pleased with them in Mac Minis.

If you can make do with 750GB, get the old Momentus XT (2nd gen). It's hybrid and 7200rpm, and quite a bit quicker than a 5400rpm drive or a regular 7200rpm drive.

Also this drive will be a secondary storage drive, I have an ssd to run OS and applications.

In that case, the hybrids will offer very little (if any) advantage over a regular HDD. Go with the fastest/cheapest 1TB drive you can get.
