I just opened up my MBP to throw in 8gig of new RAM. While I had it open I saw the 320gig HD and it reminded me that I had an extra 1tb HD laying around. I though to myself why not throw the TB in the computer and have a lot more storage.

My questions is how do i go about copying over OSX and all my files to the new HD so i can swap it out?

Thanks for any help you give me.

Use CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper to make a 1:1 copy.

MacBook, MacBook Pro: Replacing the Hard Disk Drive, transferring data to the new HDD

the guide includes:
  • 0. Identify your MacBook or MacBook Pro
  • 1. Getting a new HDD
  • 2. Guides to replace the internal HDD with a newer one
  • 3. Transferring data from the old HDD to the new HDD
  • 4. Using the optical disk drive (ODD) slot for placing an SSD or HDD inside the MB/P (OPTIBAY)

i second this i used CCC for all my backups/clones and it works great
