Since I upgraded to Leopard my 1TB Lacie Big Disk started to eject itself and I kept getting the standard 'device removal' warning.
I thought this strange as i've had the drive for 6 months and its been fine although painfully slow (USB2).
Anyhoo... I have tried the thing in different ports, different cables and the problem persisted. I have Time Machine set to back up to another External 250GB drive but turned Time Machine off to see if maybe it was causing problems with the 1TB drive. But the problem remains.
Well I have done all I can/know so I contacted Lacie and opened a tech support ticket to which I am still awaiting a reply.
Well this morning I thought I would give the drive another go and see if I could figure something out but now it doesnt even mount and makes no noise at all. Just the blue light on the front flashes at a constant speed. I think the drive has finally died (only 6 months old).
So I now cant access my 300GB iTunes library containing 100+ films, tons of music and loads of TV shows. Many of which I've paid for. I looked on Lacies website about data retrieval and it bluntly says any data will be lost when a drive is sent for repair/replacement.
Are there any tricks I may be able to pull off to try and retrieve my data in either disk utility or a 3rd party app? I stand to lose a hell of a lot of stuff.
EDIT: Can I use the remaining space on my Time Machine drive to store stuff manually?
