I see Samsung released a single chip 1TB storage option for smartphones. It's the same size as a single 512GBer used in iPhone XS's now.

I wonder if 2019's new iPhones will move up to 1TB, or will they wait a year?

Doesn't make sense. Isn't Apple pushing services and the market in general is going towards streaming everything?

iPads have TB storage, so Apple is not against larger storage. Its likely the Galaxy S10 will havr a 1TB option. Apple won't want to fall behind.

I read that article too, 1TB is a lot of storage for a phone. I can’t imagine more than 256GB for my needs but, I assume some will welcome the increase..

its time people start curating all the images and videos they are creating. Just since you took 50 photos of that must attend event, does not mean that you need to keep all 50.

Why not?

And people will never need more than 640K of RAM?

Make the introductory storage 128GB so I can stop spending money on a storage upgrade. The XR does it perfectly. 64GB is too small for me now, but 256GB is too much, that's what I have on my iPad. 128GB for the iPhone is perfect.

The S10+ has been confirmed as having 1TB. Apple will probably follow.

And that's exactly why Apple has billions in the bank. Because they know how to upsell you on things you need and they know you're likely not gonna go anywhere else. Why would a for profit business offer you the perfect size for cheaper when they know they can get you to spend more?

4K 60 FPS eats up space rapidly. FLAC audio. Scanned reference material. High resolution photos. Apps.

Depends on your personal use case. Most people will be fine with either 128 GB or 256 GB.

What on earth are you going to do with all that $torage $pace? I'm finding I can now downsize very comfortably to 64gb.

Sure. The next revision will be 64GB for $999, 512 for 1499 and 1TB for 1999 :D

This is the next path for Apple (and other phone makers) to kick up their ASP. Seriously. The profit margin on those high-gig phones must be crazy.

iPads are also geared more toward content creation rather than content consumption.

Seems like iPad usually hits a new storage peak about a year before it’s available on iPhone. Since we got 1 TB iPads last year, maybe we will see it in iPhone this year.

Would be pointless for me to get a 1TB phone. I don't even fill up 64gb all the way.

I've had a 64GB 6+, a 128GB 6s+, and a 256GB 7+, now a 512GB XS Max, the first is too low for what I do, so a 1TB iPhone would be nice, but probably not on my wallet lol.

It would be great that the option is there for people who need it. Personally, I stopped at 256GB on my iPhones, and 512GB on my iPad Pro. I personally can't see a need for 1TB. But I'm sure that option is coming.

It’s still going to be some time before more than a very small portion of consumers even come close to needing that much storage on their phones.

I don’t think others realize how much 1 TB really is. That’s a ridiculous amount of memory that likely would be the minority for those who would need that much storage. Even 512 GB is an incredible amount of storage that most couldn’t try to fill even if they wanted to. Plus, if you think about what the price would cost for a 1 TB phone, that’s not something that would probably be generally attractive.
