Hi all!

I have a white 2.0 C2D macbook. It ran mostly in clamshell mode for some years and eventually got old/started overheating. Now unless there is airflow all over/under the laptop with the battery out it shuts down after a few minutes due to the heat. The fan sounds like a jet engine while it spins up and vibrates the whole case.

I was gonna make a project of it and recase it totally going headless, but I think it'll be much less work if I can just get it working ok again and drop it in a Henge dock or something when it comes out to use as a media center.

So - has anyone with loud fan/overheating problems in this particular model of macbook had success by replacing the blower/fan assembly in the laptop? I've had to do a number of fixes on it already so I am comfortable digging around in there but wanted to see if it was even worth it at all.

thx much
