Just upgraded to 2.0 firmware and itunes 7.7. All went fine with no issues, all working and downloaded a few apps from the appstore.

Now everytime I connect the phone to my mac, itunes automatically backs up my entire iphone. This didn't happen with 7.6 and 1.1.4, and its quite annoying having to press the X everytime its plugged in to cancel the backup. It takes a good 10 minutes each time its plugged in. Has this changed for anyone else? Any way to disable it?

Also, do people find that general syncing takes longer now as well?

I visited this forum for this exact same reason! I even disabled auto-syncing when connecting, to stop this from happening every time I connect my phone to my MBP.

My first few backups seemed to take forever. Now it goes fairly quickly.

Wonder if Apple was worried about something and made sure everyone had plenty of backups?!?! J/K :D

I just wish it wasn't doing full media backups, because... shouldn't all of the media be in your iTunes library already?

It is backing up application data, like the files generated by each one. The more applications you have the more time this will take.

Quite frankly a lot of the stuff on the App Store is junk and I've spent time deleting a lot of apps from my phone.

Thanks for the clarification. I've got around 24 apps at the moment, and it takes upwards of 10 minutes for each backup (I just synced again!).

Yea getting sick of this backup feature,

They need to make it where it can be a once a week thing.

but the remote app for iphone controlling itunes on your computer is amazing.
check it.

just press the gray cross when it's backing up, cancels it and syncs the erst of your iPhone
