I’m running a Mini for my HTPC and want to do some changes for audio. I’d like to have a decent 2.1 set-up as unobtrusive as possible so that the aesthetics passes the Wife Acceptance Factor, and the ease is something my young kid’s don’t have to worry about.

I know people complain that Bose is overpriced & isn’t near the quality of other manufacturers, but I think their Companion 3 system sounds nice and am leaning that way. Can anyone recommend an alternative with similar size & quality?

One feature that I’d like is having dual input so that I can use it from my Mini or from the TV. I don’t have golden ears but hate the quality coming from my Samsung TV. Don’t have the room for rear speakers either.
