Hey everyone! I recently upgraded to a new desktop system but this question regards a 2 year old Altec Lansing 2.1 system. Every now and then when I turn on the system and start playing music the subwoofer will not respond and the speakers will have no bass what-so-ever. However if I unplug the sub once or twice it will eventually start working properly. Anyone know a way to fix this?

Thanks,

Alex

It sounds like one of the cables might be frayed on the inside of the casing. Copper (or any metal wire for that matter) can only bend back and forth so many times before becoming brittle and breaking. My guess is that your wire saw too much back and forth movement in it's lifetime and needs to be replaced.

Of course, I could be completely wrong...

That would make perfect sense, I've moved them between dorms to houses and back and forth so that would explain it. Thanks for the help Niemo!!
