First I want to start off by saying i searched the forum for something similar but I couldn't find any information. What exactly is the difference between early 2013 2.4 Ghz i7 processor and this year's 2.0 i7 processor? I'm no computer idiot but is last year device faster then this year device and the only improvement really is battery management? Considering selling my early 2013 model and buying the new one but not sure if im technically downgrading? I have a 2.4 Ghz 8 GB of ram and 256 SSD and would consider getting the 2.0 Ghz 8 GB of ram and 256 SSD. I have someone offering me 1400 for the computer.

I know the chip is a newer generation but does that make it a better performing PC?

Yes but marginal. Better battery life. Better iGPU performance.

The mid 2012 and early 2013 15" base rMBP have dedicated GPUs, the late 2013 does not. Keep that in mind.

The CPU performance is basically within spitting distance of each other. The new 2.0 is ever-so-slightly faster than the old Ivy Bridge 2.4, but for all practical purposes, they're the same.
