I have a dilemma.

I am buying a MBP. I have contacts so can get it a lot cheaper than the regular price.

At first I was going to go for the 2.4GHz because it was cheaper. I just found out that I can get the 2.53GHz for only 100 bucks more...

Should I go for the 2.53GHz? Is it a lot faster than the 2.4GHz? For only 100 bucks more, is it worth it to go for 2.53GHz??

2.4. MUCH better graphics card, and better battery. Don't worry about the GHz, as that's such a tiny difference you'll never notice it. The improvements in the graphics card is huge.

$100 for a minimal boost in clock speed is totally not worth it. Spend the money wisely one something else, like a Hi-Res option, or put it towards RAM or and SSD upgrade THAT will be worth it.

There is no dilemma, the 2.53 is pointless. Either get the low end i5 or splurge for the i7.

I lucked out - I got my MacBook Pro in 2007 and it's a 15" Core2Duo 2.4GHz. And they are still selling them in 2010. Unbelievable. My system is still relevant even today.

Thanks this makes it easier. I'm replacing my MacBook Pro (15-inch 2.4/2.2GHz) SR which I bought in 2007. Want to get rid of it before its applecare is up towards the end of October.

Wanted to go the refurb route again which is easiest if you're not customizing anything so I need to figure out if I will be doing that or not.

Nice, that should help with my resale value
