I'm starting university this September to study Photography so I have decided to purchase a new macbook! But I am stuck with which model to get, either 2.4 or 2.6 13" MacBook Pro. From the research I have done already, many people have said that you might as well get the 2.4 and upgrade the ram to 16gb. This seems to be the best idea, but I would appreciate a second opinion. I'll be running some pretty big programs on the macbook such as Photoshop, aperture, Lightroom and also probably Final Cut Pro, so bumping the ram up to 16gb seems to be a good idea. At the end of the day I can purchase an external hard drive which I will need due to photos etc, but from what I've read I'm better off paying extra towards upgrading the ram than getting the 2.6 model with 512gb. I also plan on going travelling during/after uni, and would like to obviously take photos and video my travels on the go. Let me know what you guys think!
Many thanks,
Joe

I spoke to Apple on the phone and asked about AppleCare for my new mac (which I was told was £48 in store for students) apparently it's free from what I could make out? I could pay the £48 but would just extend the technical support by telephone.
Many thanks,
Joe
