I am going to buy the new rmbp 15" and most likely going to be paying the to upgrade the RAM from 8 GB to 16 GB. Because, I will keep this computer for 4-5 years, is it worth spending an extra $100 to upgrade the processor from 2.4 Ghz to 2.7 Ghz? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

I dont think you'll see any real world difference unless you run benchmarks all day. I'd just keep the 100.00 and get the base 2.4Ghz. The ram on the other hand is a good idea IMO.

When I was buying the 1st gen I went full and got the 2.7. ****, I was having regrets for not getting 2.8 with my first gen (i got 2.53) so I thought i just might go full this time round

Since few people are CPU bound in their usage the fairly processor is rarely needed. You might see a slight difference but barely. The 16gb upgrade is worth the cost since you are more likely to bump into the RAM ceiling in a few years.
