Between the 2.4GHz and 2.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processors:

1) Is there any difference in battery life?

2) Is there any difference in heat / noise?

Note that the 2.5GHz processor is a custom configuration option.

imo the 2.5 isnt worth it. its the same processor one just has a slight diff clock speed. i doubt ud even notice a difference in speed. your probably better off just saving the cash.

It's assumed that the OP does think he/she will benefit or wouldn't have asked about the 2.4 vs 2.5.

I have the 2.5 and am very happy. Any boost in processor speed for programs that can't utilize all four processors is beneficial. Even a 2 second difference is enough as that 2 second process, repeated 50 times a day or more, for 300 days a year, most certainly adds up. (In the above scenario, that's over 8 days saved, or 8 days billed for. In my case that could easily mean over $5k a year). Paying the extra $250 is a no-brainer for me.

I don't have a 2.4 to compare battery life or heat/noise, but as posted above I too don't think that these things would be affected.
