Is it safe to use a 2.5" External Drive as a server, so files (movies, predominantly) are shared across the home network?
I've currently got a 2TB 3.5" drive (Western Digital Elements) which goes to sleep mode and wakes up when trying to access the files. I'm worried that a 2.5" drive may fail if its constantly on.
I'm thinking of buying a Seagate Backup Plus Slim for this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822178438
Reason why I want to switch is because I sometimes have to take the drive and transfer files not using the network as its slow (2-5mb/s).
Thanks!
