hi guys.

i got a lot of 40 GB hard drives from older notebooks. any suggestions, what i can do with them? would putting them in a nas enclosure be worth it?

maybe you guys have another idea.

thanks.

I say throw them some type of enclosure and make it a small portable drive.

Not that 40 gigs is that much now days. I would say I carry that much on me in flash drives but fair amount of those drives space are burnt to duplicate data.

I made a little powered / usb enclosure for mine...6 to be exact. Use it for odd ball storage. One has every episode of TOP GEAR saved on it the other has misc software...etc.

How big is your iPhoto library? Would be the perfect cheap solution to keep multiple copies of those irreplaceable photos.

Even better, if you have non techie relatives, use the drives to do a backup for them and then just file them away in a safe spot. If the worst happens to their computer, you'll be a hero.
