2.5gb being used by "OTHER"

When I plug my ipad 3 into itunes, it says that 2.5gb is being used by "other." I know this cannot possibly be the OS taking up that much space. Anybody know what this 2.5gb is being used by?? Thanks.
 
"Other" is usually data used by installed applications, ie. video player or music player. I know on my ipad I have quite a bit of storage used by spotify for synced playlists. Try going to settings, general, and then usage and you can see what apps are using what space.
