Hi I am the happy owner of a broken 2.5ghz core 2 duo 15.4 inch MBP circa 2008!

Recently I had a couple of epic crashes and ran hardware test disc It came back with the error code 4/MEM/9/40000000: 719a19f4
After this test it is now completely unable to boot and only loads a screen covered in vertical green and grey stripes!

Googlin the code I came up with the suggestions it was a ram module error so I replaced and upgraded the ram to the maximum 2x2gb only to find the problem persists! When powering up it goes straight to a screen of thick grey and green stripes!

Any suggestions please? As I am not sure I can currently get to an apple store!!

Thanks

Dom

It could be your the RAM of your video chip set. When this is what is broke you'll probably have to replace your motherboard.

But this is only a guess.
